Specs :
APU : AMD A10-5700
Motherboard : MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine)
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
The BIOS doesn't show my CPU/APU temperature and yes, I've looked everywhere in the BIOS, It just wasn't there. I installed HWMonitor and it seems to show the APU temperature but it only shows an overall of all 4 cores and I really hope it's not its real overall temp because I'm doing 40 to 50 °C on idle and up to 80+°C while gaming : I'm also using a graphics card (GTX 750Ti SC) and not using the APU cores for the graphics. All the other hardware parts were showing : GPU, HDD and Motherboard temperatures were pretty low : 18 to 23 °C on idle. I decided to clean off the old thermal compound and it's wasn't dry or anything and it was correctly applied. So, I applied the new thermal compound and put my heatsink & fan back on. Temperatures didn't drop a bit...
I tried other softwares such as RealTemp, Open Hardware Monitor, CPU Thermonitor and PCMeter and they didn't show the APU temperature... Some of them showed something like 0 to 14°C which is obviously not the real temperature but most of them just didn't show anything. I figured the problem might be the motherboard. The thing is, I don't want to change it and spend a hundred dollars on a new one since this one does the job even if it has its issues : unremovable cpu backplate = can't change my APU cooler to an aftermarket one and not showing the APU temperatures.
When I press my hand against the case, it's not really hot (just regular PC temperatures)
So.. Do I have to update the BIOS? Is there a software that works with the A10-5700? Is my APU the problem or is it the motherboard? I don't want to end up frying my APU and having to buy another one as well. Neither do I want to buy another motherboard. I will not be putting the APU under pressure until I fix this problem.
English is not my native language so excuse the grammar mistakes.
I'll give further information if requested. Thank you.
