Hi there, I have an AMD FX-9370 4.40 GHz and an H100iGTX water-cooling it. I had the smaller version of the water cooler, and then I upgraded to the bigger version because it wasn't providing enough cooling.
I installed the bigger one around 9 months ago, and have seen great improvement with my temps and everything has been great.
Recently though, my CPU has started overheating to the point of my computer turning itself off. I don't overclock, I didn't change anything. There wasn't much dust build up, or anything. So I thought maybe the thermal paste was used up, so I cleaned off the old thermal paste, reapplied the new paste, and it appeared I had lower idle temps! My idle temps seemed normal for about 10 mins, and then they started spiking randomly between 27 -55 Celsius. This is the computer just sitting at the desktop with nothing else going on.
I tried playing a match of csgo, but the CPU gets to 80 degrees and shuts itself off even before I load into the game! I have Corsair Link open monitoring my CPU temp and how much load is on it, and it was only at about 30% when I was trying to play CS:GO.
I have an Asus Crosshair V Formula motherboard that has a bunch of fancy voltage regulators and controllers, and I dunno if maybe the motherboard is giving too much voltage to the CPU. It shows me the voltage in Corsair Link, and it fluctuates between 0.88V and 1.55V. I have no idea if this is normal range or not, but I've spent all day troubleshooting, and I can't seem to find any solutions to my problem.
Hopefully you guys can help!
EDIT: The computer was overheating and shutting itself off BEFORE I applied new thermal paste, just to clarify. It looks like the water cooler has good contact with the CPU, but I'm not entirely sure. The water cooler's temps sit around 38-45 degrees Celsius, and my graphics card idles around 42 degrees Celcius.
