CPU temps at 57c

That's very high. My Phenom X4 runs at 32 C .Have you set the cool and quiet feature in the bios? Apart from ventilation, that could be your problem. That is if you motherboard features cool and quiet.
 
I read somewhere that you should deactivate cool n quiet? is this the case? Mines on and i have a 9950be running around 50 loaded
 
Don't have Qfan running with cool and quiet, and don't load cool and quiet drivers in Vista as Vista has its own cool and quiet drivers.
I don't know what heat sink your using but I found the cpu ran hot with 3rd party heat sinks so I used the factory cpu heatsink that worked a bundle.
 
You may also want to play around with your power settings: Minimal power management or Power saver may knock your processor temp down a bit.
 
Like I said. The best heat sink is usually the one that comes with your cpu. I had a 3x phenom, I started off by choosing my own heatsink with copper pipes and stuff, then I tried some special sink with a whopping great 14 cm fan that took up most of my case. Both ran over 40C. I then reverted to the basic aluminium 4pin fan that came with the cpu and the temperature was much lower then any of the third party heat sinks, at about 36C. Then I got a 45nm Phenom x4 and straight away used the copper pipe heatsink with four pin connector - I wouldn't need to differ. I'm running at 31C as I write this text on Hi Performance power setting. On Power Saving setting my pc rests at 25C. If you haven't got one, try and get the heat sink that is usually shipped with Phenoms. You might find one on Ebay!
 
I am going to get me the Phenom II soon, so i can use that heatsink/fan. Right now I'm using the cool&quiet that came with the ASUS mobo. I'm looking at the temp now and it is dropping to 46c so far. I disabled the "power management" for windows XP, and using the Cool&Quiet, so it seems to be helping
 
ok, i downloaded SpeedFan to double check my temps

Room temperature is playing an important role in cpu temperature. 57C idle is not that bad people that claim that have 32C maybe live in a room temp 18C and others live in room temp 35C.
 
i had a similar post recently. although i did not get definitive answers, your core temps are high, esp at idle, but you cpu temp is probably only at either 46 or 32 from your speedfan reading. if you open up hwmonitor again, besides the core temps, there are also a few temps above it with weird names. one of them should be your cpu temp (compare it to cpu temp in bios to determine which one). just like speedfan, the other one if probably mobo chipset. the cpu temp has a max temp of 62 for new phenoms, but core temps can go higher.

my cpu temp is around 42-44c playing games, but core temps can hit 58-60c. at idle, my cpu temp is about 37c and core temps 44c.

since your numbers are a little high, try to reapply thermal paste (artic silver5) and reseat your heatsink.
 
I'll diffently check BIOS when I get home and see what the temp says. I had the same temp of 50c+ with another heatsink/fan, thats why I bought me a NZXT case with 6 fans and also the Zerotherm heatsink to try and fix it. Maybe cause I live in Florida the temp won't get as low as 35c.

Anyone else out there live in florida and get the same temp? :heink:
 
which one do you have? is it a 125watt or 95watt? i have the pII x4 940 oc'd to 3.5. vcore set to auto and varies from 1.35 (default) to 1.45. the chip does get hot quickly. i imagine the 95watt'ers are cooler.
 
Looks like I found the problem. The ZeroTherm heatsink was not working. Since the fan was attached to the side of heatsink instead of the top, it didn't work well. I replaced with with a heatsink/fan that came with a phenom cpu my brother had. The temp is holding at 40c XD
 




I have tried about 5 different monitoring programs and they all say something different. Anywhere from 26c to 75c. Personally I don't know what to believe yet. I'm using Core Temp right now and it tells me about 52 gaming and 60 at 100% stress testing. The heatpipes on the cooler are actually much cooler to the touch than my old 6000 x2 so I'm thinking that the cpu reads the temp alot differently. No freezes or crashes so I'm calling it good. 3.5 @ 1.35 volts.
 
I noticed a big problem yesterday, I turned on my computer for the first time, went directly into BIOS to check the heat, it was 57c!!! :ouch: I immediately took off the heatsink and replaced it...whew. No way should it be that high 2 seconds after turning on computer. But all is good now, got it steady at 40c while idle and it hits about 50c while playing COD4, but drops quickly after game.......unless I can find a better cooling system then fan....ponders
 
OMG! the smallest thing and I figured out the heat problem. The Zerotherm heatsink came with it's own paste, and it was crap! I went out and bought me a better heat paste and BOOM! The CPU idles now at 36c - 38c and fan is running at 1560 rpms, I couldn't figure why the fan was at max 2500 rpms, but it was the bad heat paste.....finally something is going right with pc :bounce:
