CPU temps high when PC is idle

I just installed my new I5 4690K processor into the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 MOBO and when I boot it up the CPU temps are at 50-53 degrees when my PC is idle. I'm wondering if that is normal or did I mess up somewhere when I was installing the chip? I tried re-applying the thermal compound multiple times but everything is pretty much the same. I'm using a stock cooler that came with the CPU.

PS: I used a thermal paste called "Heatsink compound HY510".

Where are you reading the temperatures?
What are your environments ambient temperatures?
How effective is air flow through your case? With this, is your case clear and free from dust and in an open environment where it can bring in cool air?
How hot are your other components? Are they all overheating or just the CPU?
You've already done it, but generally this kind of problem comes from misjudged application of thermal paste, how much are you putting on?
