I recently upgraded to a 4690k and something appears to be wrong (most likely on my end). I had an AMD fx-4130 before and it was at 30 celcius at idle. My 4690k is at 60 celcius idle. I don't understand. I have 3 fans blowing on it. One of my friends told me that aftermarket coolers won't help it either, but if they don't, then whats the point in getting one. I appreciate the help, anybody.

I have the stock cooler, so yeah I have the stock thermal paste. I clicked in all 4 corners, so I don't understand how I could have installed it wrong.

Something is not right the with the install because even the stock fan will cool below 60 Celsius at idle. You could get some new thermal material and wipe off the old and clean the cpu top correctly and reinstall new and see if that helps.

It's standing at 40 celcius right now, with chrome and iTunes open. I'm not sure what was going on earlier, or if something magic happened.

I was thinking of upgrading to an H60 cooler. Do you have any idea of how cool it should keep my system, or if it is even worth buying?
