CPU that gives better performance then i5 3570k in GAMING PLEASE HELP

Please help I need a cpu that gives better performance/overclocking a i7 3770k/i5 3570k. For similar prices max $250.

Mainly for gaming I was going for a i7 2700k for overclocking but hyperthreading isn't utilized in gaming so it hurts performance. So I've been told.

So I need a processor that gives better performance in gaming and overclocks higher. For max $250 dollars more.

Even if it has hyperthreading but still overclocks and gives better performance in gaming.

So what I need is a processor that performs better then i5 3570k in gaming and overclocks better. Even if it has hyperthreading but performs better and overclocks higher.

For gaming, the CPU of choice is the i5-2500k. 4 true cores.

There isn't one. The i5 2500K overclocks a bit better then the 3570K, but there isn't a CPU that gives better gaming performance the an overclocked i5 2500K/3570K.

For video editing the i7 Sandy Bridge E series is better, but only in that area.

I used AMD when AMD was top dog. My current CPU is an Intel Core i5 2500K.

Anyway. it's about impossible to push a 3570K beyond 4.5GHz and it's hard to hit even 4.3Ghz. 5GHz is not very likely, it's like winning the lotto.

If you get a Core i5 2500K, they are far superior overclockers. Almost everyone, not matter they're skill can get a 2500K to 4.5GHz, and a good number can get 5GHz. I hit a wall at 5.2GHz on mine, but for safety I keep it at either 4.5GHz for most games or 5.1GHz for BF3 and Skyrim because they will use the extra speed. MY voltage is 4.5GHz/1.31V & 5.1GHz 1.36V

Don't expect 5GHz, but don't be surprised either if you hit it.

What's your problem with the i5? It's one of the best gaming chips around right now, even a $1000 Core i7 3960X has a close performance to it in gaming.

Hyper Threading affects performance by 1-2 FPS which is Zero in real world performance and you can disable it whenever through BIOS.

What about an i7 2700k if I disable hyperthreading and get it to 5.0ghz will it perform better then a 3570k???

There is not guarantee on hitting 5GHz, as I'm trying to tell you. A 2700K is just a higher clocked 2600K, it's not even binned higher. A i5 2500K is as likely to 5GHz as a i7 2600K or 2700K. Save your money and put the money into a good water cooling loop like the Corsair H100. For gaming, the i7's aren't any better.

All of this is moot as for the most part a stock 3.3GHz i5 2500K is overkill for gaming. Very few games are CPU intensive and will take advantage of the extra speed. The video card is more important, get GTX 670 FTW for a 7970.

i would go with a 2600k tbh...well i am buying one but for the main reason that in the future more games will utilize more cores/threads...SOOOO i would get a 2600k and if you are concerned about HT hurting performance...disable it in the bios..

Games today don't even use 4 cores, buy the time the games are using 6 or 8 the 2600K will be ancient. The 2500K saves you money to be put towards a better cooler or better video card.

The OP said $250 max price, the i5 2500K is $219, the 2600K is $289. For gaming it's a big waste of money. $80 could get you a video card that will do even better, It's almost the difference between a Radeon HD 7950 vs a 7970.

Besides the 2500K overclocks a little bit better.

Yes I have overclocked before a i7 3960X, but that was much easier as it was a lower clock. I never said guaranteed 5ghz just the best cpu that has the most chance of getting a 24/7 5ghz clock.

A personally don't think a 5GHz 24/7 OC is safe unless you can pull it off with a voltage less the 1.38V. If you really want to hit 5GHz, a 2500K is probably your best chance at it. I've hit it on mine, and I've seen more 5GHz 2500K's then 2600K's or 2700K's.
If you want to cool that bad boy, grab a Corsair H100, 2 more fans so you can do a Push/Pull setup on the radiator, and go to town. What case are you using?

A nzxt phantom full tower. I was going to get a phantom 410 mid tower purely because of the gun metal, but I don't think a h100 will fit in a phantom 410.

The Phantom Full tower is a very good choice. Another consideration should be the Xigmatek Elysium Super Tower case. It's massive, has tons and tons good airflow which is important for a heavy OC, and it's easy to work in with great cable management.
