I have an hp pavilion Laptop. It has an AMD A10-8700p processor(1.8-3.2 ghz), An R6 and an R7 m360 gpu. While playing most games (High Performance Mode and AC power) CPU throttles at 2.2 ghz showing 100% usage and bottlenecks the gpu. Just as i close a game the clock speed starts to increase while usage starts decreasing drastically and becomes stable at 2.4 with 10-30% usage.
I believe this is because laptops have only certain amount of power whether plugged in or not and can only power GPU and CPU to a certain limit.
Is there any way to increase CPU clock speed while gaming to say, 2.5 and above?

Solution
I suspect you have a dedicated graphics card in your laptop and when gaming, the interior of your laptop heats up. As both the cpu and gpu produce heat, that the fans can not blow out, your components throttle down (decrease their clock speed). If you are gaming at home you can try placing your laptop on a stand with a large fan. That wil help a little. Otherwise this is compromise you take when purchasing a mobile device - cooling is limited.
I wish I had a more revealing answer.
