I have an i7 2600k paired with the p8z68 v pro gen3 mobo from asus. I am running the stock cooler with some properly applied arctic silver thermal paste and the stock clocks. i have xmp profile on, power options is high performance, and processor cooling is active. My in-game frame rates seem stable and at where they should be. The cooler is secure and all four pins click down. My idle temps hover from 40-50c. When i run any kind of bench or stress test(cinebench r20, userbenchmark, aida64, prime95), my temps exceed 90c a lot of the time, and the cpu started throttling after just 6 minutes in aida 64. If you can PLEASE HELP!!

Solution
Intel stock coolers have never been any good.
For low power cpus models like pentium and i3 - they're fine, with i5 they get rather loud in operation.
With i7 k series - not adequate anymore.

Get a better cooler.
Some low cost options - CM Hyper 212 Evo, Deepcool Gammaxx 400 or similar.
