i currenly have an i5 3570 and am looking to get a i7 4790 doesn anyone know if i would need to but a new motherboard with newer chipset or if it would work on my current motherboard
You need the new lga1150 MB for the i7 4790, and the old cpu i5 has the lga1155 socket. You can get the H97 or Z97 MB for the i7 4790, if you want you can get the xeon E3 1231V3, which is the i7 4770 w/o intel HD graphics engine, and it is a honorable mention cpu in our site. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106.html
