Greetings, I wish to upgrade my cpu what is the best option with 200-250€

I use the pc for gaming mostly at 1080p
My pc
MB Asus h97 pro gamer
RAM 16gb corsair 1600 mhz
CPU 4790K @4.6GHZ
GPU msi gtx 1070 8gb
PSU corsai rmi 750w

I'm looking for a 6 core 12 thread cpu for gaming either Intel or amd

Solution
Well a total budget makes it easier to determine the best combination. You could go with something like a 10600k, but you need a more expensive Z490 board, to really take advantage of it. A Ryzen 5 3600, while a bit slower, can be paired with a less expensive board. For example.

CPU: Intel Core i5-10600KF 4.1 GHz 6-Core Processor (€205.49 @ LK-Webservices)
Motherboard: MSI MPG Z490 GAMING PLUS ATX LGA1200 Motherboard (€167.80 @ Mindfactory)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (€81.02 @ Alza)
Total: €454.31

Solution
In what way is your current pc not doing the job?
I7-4790K while older gen, it is still a very competent processor.

If your objective is better gaming, run this simple test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

Some games are graphics limited like fast action shooters.
Others are cpu core speed limited like strategy, sims, and mmo.
Multiplayer tends to like many threads.

You need to find out which.

I might add that if you do not already have a ssd for your C drive, that would be my first upgrade.

Say maybe in metro exodus and company of heroes 2 sometimes have significant drops in fps,I'll be honest, half of the reason I want to upgrade is just for the sake of upgrading it's more of an pre upgrade because I want to change the gpu later and I don't think the 4790k will handle it
