Hello forum and happy holidays.
I am looking for an upgrade right now for my current FX 8350 rig. Main focus is gaming, every day use, multiatasking through a dual monitor setup basic office stuff, chrome tabs, discord and light productivity. My first step on this upgrade path is the CPU+Mobo+Ram(budget 550-600euros) and the budget for CPU is around 300-350 euros. But i cant settle on which company i should "pull the trigger".
I am going to play on a 1080p 144hz monitor so i am looking for high refresh rates, i might get a 1080p240 or 1440p144 in the future but im not going to invest on that yet.

After some research on benchmarks a nice bet is a 5600X but at 370e in my country i dont know if its a good bargain for a 6core/12thread part. I want the upgrade to be future proof.
So the next step on this perfomance range is an i7 10700k for 350e seems a decent choice, but i am concerned for the 125w TDP over the Ryzen's effeciency! Also the R7 3700X for 300 is better value, nice performer all around, but i dont know if i can achieve the 144fps for my monitor. Does the 50 euro price jump worth it ? Btw i already have a cooler(Cryorig H5 Ultimate).

Should i not over spend get and R5 3600 or i5 10400f and upgrade after 2-3 year to Zen 3 or Rocket lake respectively? Can i achieve high frame rates with these little guys?
I forgot to mention, i am gonna replace my gtx 970 for a RTX 3070/3060 Ti in 2 months and the PSU is XFX TS 650w Gold
What do you think is the better upgrade path?
Thanks in advance

Sorry for the long post

Solution
you need a CPU/ mainboard, and RAM, if that was not clear...(budget accordingly)

Supplies of R5-5600X are unfortunately pathetic, but, it's the goal (paired with a B550), and the R5-3600 is still a quite decent backup/fall back, and 3x as fast as an FX8350.... :)

Unless you can find a 10600K/Z490 board for $100+ less. I'd stick with the 5600X/3600 plan...

An AMD 550 or 570 motherboard has the best chance of "future proof". But NOTHING is future proof, IMO. ANYTHING will be a huge upgrade from an FX8350 CPU.

Your FX cpu can certainly use an update.
300 Euros should buy you a low end i3-10100, a lga1200 motherboard and 16gb of ddr4 ram that is about 2x the capability of your FX-8350.
Not that I am recommending that.

Today, the ryzen 5600x offers the best single thread performance around. It will be "future proof" for about 3 months.
Unconfirmed tests show rocket lake to beat even the 5950X.

Buy what you need now, or for a year or two.
Most any processor in the 200 euro range will give you good gaming with a 400 euro graphics card.

In my country i can find:
R5 1600AF - 130e
i5 10400F - 150e
R3 3100 - 160e
i5 10600KF or R5 3600 - 240e
R5 3600XT - 260e
R7 3700X - 300e and
R7 3800XT/R5 5600X/i7 10700K - 350-370e

What do you think is the best purchase right now ? i am gonna use a 1080p 144hz monitor
