CPU upgrade causes boot loop

I have 2 computers: 1 desktop with an i5 6400 and 1 laptop (w650kk1) that supports desktop cpus with a G4560. I wanted to switch both cpus but when I did, the laptop would get into a bluescreen boot loop (WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR). When I switched both cpus back both computers would boot up again without a hitch.

I've already tried a couple of things without success:
- reset bios after installing the i5
- move the boot drive from the desktop to the laptop and boot from there (in case it was a driver problem)
- check the website of the mobo manufacturer for bios updates (none available - current version is from 2017)

Update: a lot of people are suggesting the laptop isn't capable of handling higher voltage cpus: here's a video of someone putting an i7 7700 in it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5JPNptqwGQ

Some websites offer the same laptop with an i5 6600 (https://www.mydealz.de/deals/clevo-w650kk1-mit-i5-6600k-geforce-1050-ti-8gb-ram-und-128gb-ssd-fur-699eur-ebay-1172575). I presumed that since the G4560 is KabyLake and the i5 is SkyLake and thus an older chipset it would be supported? I'm not entirely sure how that works tbh. Maybe because it has different tdp I'll have to fiddle with some bios settings?

Yes I did, there were only drivers for components listed, not bios. Cpu-z also tells me the current installed version is from juli 2017.

The is the only post I could find so far about supported CPU's for the TC-710. Looks like you CPU may not be compatible.
https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/534806/processor-upgrade-for-aspire-tc-710

supported CPUs
– Intel Core i7 6700 4.0G 8M 1600 Quad Core 91W
– Intel Core i5 6400 2.7G 6M 1600 Quad Core 65W
– Intel Core i3 6100 3.7G 3M 1600 Dual Core 47W
– Pentium Dual Core G4400 3.3G 3M1600 Dual Core 47W

The desktop is not the problem tho, I only mentioned it to demonstrate that all components are functional. I only care about the laptop and the i5.

Gotcha. Is "W65KJ1_KK1" the actual name of the Laptop? I can't fins anything except a possible benchmark you may have run in the past.

What brand is it? ASUS? Dell? HP?
There has to be a model name also associated with it.

That's the model name of the mobo according to cpu-z. The name of the laptop is w650kk1. I think it's made by Clevo (?), it definitly gets sold by them but also by Eluktronics and Dubaro (which is where I bought it).

Is this your laptop?

If it is the only thing I can think of is because the i5 6400 is a 6th gen CPU and the website says it handles 7th gen CPU's.

Normally this shouldn't be an issue but the website does not give alot of info. When I click the owner's manual the download isn't even there. I can't seem to find supported CPU and memory lists (which I would think should be very basic things to find on a support page)

normally, yes. but the original poster is using a specialty laptop hardware that was specifically designed to support desktop cpu's.

So I went and bought a new i5 7600 and it is working without issue for now. I don't know whether the older i5 6400 was faulty but not faulty enough to not work in my old desktop (not entirely sure how that'd work) or the different chipset was to blame (also not sure how that'd work - but I don't have any other guesses).

tldr: i5 6400 bad, i5 7600 good
