Hey all!

I'm thinking about upgrading my PC (for gaming) and my initial plan is to spend something around 450 USD. I want to update my CPU but I'm not sure if I should stick with Intel or I should try AMD, since I'll also need to change my MB now.

This is my current setup:
  • MB: ASRock H81M-HDS (LGA 1150)
  • CPU: i5-4460 Haswell @ 3.20GHz, 3199 MHz
  • GPU: GTX 1080
  • Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
  • Case: Zalman - Z3 Plus ATX Mid Tower Case
  • Monitor: Asus VS239H
  • PSU: Corsair - Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified

I'll appreciate any help!
Thanks!

Solution
AMD is going to be the better value, as their motherboards are more affordable. Intel is Intel, they are fast but most expensive.

If gaming is what you mainly intend the upgrade for, Intel still has a significant lead in most games if you don't mind the $50-100 extra cost over a comparable Ryzen build.

The other option is to wait and see what happens with Ryzen 3xxx before upgrading.
