I recently upgraded from 3080 to 4090. My CPU is 5600x and I play game with 3840x1600 144hz monitor. Is it worth it to build new platform for 7800x3d or 13700k? Or should I just get 5800x3d for now and upgrade in few years? TIA

5800x3d for last hurrah on AM4 platform and a great cpu
7800x3d scales really well with the 4090 over a 13900k in gaming ..
hardware unboxed video shows that !!'
13700k if you want games and some solid production work

i have both the 5800x3d and 7800x3d and both great cpu's

Do you think spending extra on MOBO, RAM ect... is worth it for 7800x3d? or 5800x3d is good enough for now?

if you want to spend the money i think the AM5 platform is a great upgrade that said obviously rocking the AM4 5800x3d is ALOT cheaper if you already own the mobo/ram ..
comes down to budget really and how fast you want to upgrade the 5800x3d and a 4090 is still going to give solid performance ..

That said how often do you want to upgrade 8000series and possible 9000series are coming to AM5
2025 is how far AMD has promised AM5 so you may see 2 more gens before AM6 ..

A decent AM5 mobo will cost a bit but ram cl30 6000 ( zen 4 sweet spot ) is cheaper now !!

All in all i guess its sit on a 5800x3d till 2025 or upgrade now and sit on the 7800x3d till 2025 and see what happens !!
