Hi, could someone please help me pick a good alternative to my i5-6600k 3.5Gh

im running it on a MSI B150 MORTAR motherboard

The processor, as shown in task manager, runs at 100% in many games and Id like something which handles FPS gaming better thanks

With that mobo, best you can get is an i7-7700k, but that assumes your PSU and cooler are up to it and you'd also need to update the bios on your mobo. For the money you'd spend on a 7700k (if you can find one new!) you would be able to afford either Ryzen 5 3600/x with X570/X470/B450 mobo (check Ryzen 3rd gen compatibility on the last two) or a i5-9600k with Z390 mobo.

Ok thanks so in summary you think Id be best to replace the board and CPU in one go?
