I tried upgrading my PC by upgrading my CPU and adding a GPU.. My current specs were:

CPU: Ryzen 3 2200g
RAM: 4x 4GB Patriot Signature 2133MHZ DDR4
MOTHERBOARD: MSI B450-A Pro

I tried switching the Ryzen 3 to a Ryzen 7 5700x as well as adding in a new GTX 1660 Super.. However, after installing the CPU and the GPU (which was plugged in but I didn't realize it had a connector for a power cable).. the PC came on, fans spinning, RGB lights on but the PC itself wont boot up. My monitor doesn't detect any PC and the EZ Debug CPU light on the motherboard in steadily on. I tried putting my original CPU back in but it gives the same issue.. please keep in mind that the PC worked fine with the original up until the point I switched it out .

I've tried alot, removed the CPU to ensure the pins weren't broken.. removed the RAM and tried running it with and without it, but no improvements.. I thought a solution would be to get the bios for the motherboard or CPU and hope it could be installed via USB kinda like how tou can install a windows media file.. but still nothing. What do I do??

You should have updated BIOS before switching CPUs but that MB has ability to flash BIOS even without CPU and RAM present. check the manual for how to do it. It's pretty simple. It involves button on the back of MB, a USB dongle and a file previously downloaded from MSI site.
Or/and look and follow this

I would just ad that best to use USB with less than 32GB so it's easier to format to FAT32.

I just finished trying this and started it up and same problem.

Then its not a simple delay. When changing the CPU did you have any problem removing the cooler like it being glued to the old CPU? If yes, you should look in the slot, maybe the old one left a pin in there. Also did you use a non conductive thermal paste? If not did it spill too much on the sides?

Hang on.. i just made some progress.. i removed everything from the motherboard this time except the power cable and flashed it again using the original bios for the 2200g and booted it again using 1 ram stick. I am currently in the bios screen.

I am able to get as far as the "Choose an option" blue screen.. unsure if it is unable to read my hard drive now.. I tried adjuting the cables but still gives me that screen. Tried startup repair and it says failed.

UPDATE: I had to unplug my HDD and boot up using my SSD which has my windows saved on it and it booted successfully. I shut down and plugged the HDD back in and booted again, now it's successful. So I think I can consider this thread solved, thanks guys :)

So.. new issue.. i updated my bios to be compatible with my ryzen 7 and i also plugged in my gtx 1660S but not my monitor isnt showing anything.. the PC is on.. however it gives me 3 beeps and shows the VGA light on and then disappears

MSI AM5 boards have a compatibility issue with older GPUs. I don't know if they patched it in the BIOS yet. When i was using an old RX480 while i was waiting for the 7700XT to arrive, i was getting BSODs and other problems, when i was using the Ryzen's integrated GPU everything worked fine.

Did you use BIOS version 7B86vAH.zip or higher?
Might need to clear the CMOS as well. Either use a jumper circuit on the board (check manual), or remove the button battery for a few minutes then replace.
Thanks, I flashed it with this BIOS version and it worked.. had a little issue with the VGA but its fine now.

Its an AM4 motherboard not AM5.

New Issue... so my PC just randomly starts freezing, I'm watching a video and then the audio cuts out, the refreshing symbol shows on the video then it just cuts out.. can't close the browser and when I try to do referesh on the desktop, the refresh part of the right click remains on the screen and lastly it doesn't allow me to shut down or restart from the desktop... I have to press the button the tower to do so...

A few times when booting up, it would give one long beep followed by 2 shorter beeps then boot up normally. I assumed it would be the GPU when I googled it or the RAM but I am not sure and want to be sure before I attempt anything. Also, what makes me think its more the RAM is that my browser sometimes randomly crashes and the tabs show out of memory.

Assuming it worked fine before the upgrade, have you tried putting in the old CPU and see if it still works or if it gives you problems? If the old works then the new is faulty.
Also try this: unplug the power and remove the motherboard battery for a couple of minutes to completely reset the bios, then plug it back in and see if anything changes. DO NOT touch the bios until you confirm that the problem is still there or not.

msi boards are notoriously bad quality. that being said remove all video card drivers related

that being said what is your psu make and model
