[SOLVED] CPU Upgrade Issues

Looking for some help from those who know much more about this stuff than me. I've got an oldish pc which we use now and then as a backup for some online games.

Thought I'd give it a budget upgrade with some second hand parts from eBay, but I've hit a snag when installing new CPU.

I'm getting a number of widows blue screens now and it usually follows this pattern....

PC starts up and seems ok, then within a minute of just the desktop I get "Kernel Security Check Failure" crash.

Then following the restart I seem to then keep getting "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" crashes instead.

I've reverted back to my old CPU and no issues.

Motherboard: Asus Z97M Anniversary
CPU: Intel G3258 replaced with i5 4690k
RAM: 2 x 4Gb HyperX Fury Ddr3 Memory (HX316C10F) & 2 x 8Gb HyperX Fury Ddr3 Memory (HX318C10FWK2)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti soon to be replaced with GTX 970
PSU: 600w
Running Windows 10

Any advice on what to try?

Solution
Thanks all.

Turned out it was a fault with the CPU. Got another of the same chip and it's working fine. Appreciate all the help.
If you have not done so, update the motherboard bios to currency.
The latest version is 2.20:

Thanks for the response geofelt.
So I've been trying to do this as I'm still on the original version, but keep hitting issues.

Downloaded to a USB and when trying to use the option "Instant Flash". I just get a message that no image file was found, tried downloading all versions and two different usb sticks and get the same.

Tried the windows installer and I get a message "We are temporarily unable to update the BIOS due to your OS, please try using Instant Flash...."

Was your usb stick formatted as fat32?

Can you find the flash documentation?
Does the flash file need to be renamed to do the flash?
Right just went back and tried every usb slot and I've finally got it recognised for Instant Flash so am updating now. Will put the new CPU back in, give it a go and report back.

Now BIOS is updated.
All still working fine with the old setup, switched the new processor back in and instantly getting "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" blue screens within a few seconds of starting up.

Generally, I have encountered that error in relation to memory. Possible the memory controller on the chip has gone bad. You are mixing memory which isn't ideal, so I would try running it with only one of the memory kits installed.

Might be a good time to pick up an i7-4790 or i7-4790k if you want to keep using this system. Otherwise replacing the core components isn't too bad.
