hello and thx a lot in advance for answers.
I'm mostly playing games, i5-8600k on asus tuf h370-pro gaming, 32 gb 2666 mhz, gtx 1660 super, 60 Hz monitor (syncing fps with refresh rate).
I am thinking of best upgrade of cca 300 eur to increase fps in games that I can not run with 60 fps.

been considering i7 8700, even i7 9700 or i9 9900k but not sure if mb would support it (some say it would if bios is upgraded for 9th gen). "k" would be good for future possible oc on different mb.

not an expert, not sure if cpu upgrade would grant extra fps to approve this upgrade (been seeing some youtubes but configs are usually not the same).

maybe to get good oc mb? not sure what is the weakest link and oc might not work on current i5...

change gpu maybe? can current i5 8600k get advantage of new gen gpus, like 2060 super or similar amd gpu?

thx a lot for advises, much appreciated.
cheers!

Solution
cpu performance has barely improved throughout the last years. a 8600k and 2060 super shouldn't be too big of, if any of a bottleneck. Pretty good combo if you ask me. You could also go with and, and get a new mobo amd cpu. a 5600x would be about the equivalent of that 8600k.

I would recommend using that 300 just to get a gpu.

also, syncing refresh rate isn't usually a good idea, it causes input lag.
