Had a ryzen 5 3200 and just got a Ryzen 5 3600xWhat are the new and old CPU models?
I'm not seeing a ryzen 5 3200 exists.Had a ryzen 5 3200 and just got a Ryzen 5 3600x
Ok I will give this a try. Thank you!Since ryzen 3 3200-3400 is based on zen+ and your new cpu 3600 is based on zen 2, i wasn’t suprised you didn’t encounter any issues at the beggining. You need to update your motherboard bios with your old cpu from your motherboard vendor’s website. There are many tutorials on youtube to how to do it. I hope this helps.
Then it is very possible it needs a BIOS upgrade.2600 sorry
Well, there was a massive backlash about b450 not supporting 3000 cpus at launch because of the motherboard ROM limitations and i don’t know how it concluded. So it would be best for you to just update it to the ryzen 2000 supported bios because they might have ended ryzen 2000 and 1000 support on the new BIOS and if you are going to upgrade to 3000 series later then update the bios before you get your new CPU since as far as i know neither AMD nor motherboard vendors have bios flashback support and i am not %100 sure about this. TLDR; update to ryzen 2000 supported bios for peace in mind. Then it is very possible it needs a BIOS upgrade.
The 2600 requires 0207
the 3600x requires 2301
Well if the bios does support it then yeah,if not and if my suspicions were right then your motherboard might not be usable with ryzen 2600. I’d suggest him/her to update to version 0207. And as i said i am not sure. And you can update the bios later if you get a full confirmation.Put the old CPU in.
Upgrade to at least 2301,
Put the new CPU in.
Power down in between of course.
You're welcome.OK then, i didn’t know that. Thanks for the info.
No. Most B450 motherboards were launched 1 year earlier than Ryzen 3000. That's why they didn't support Ryzen 3000 because Ryzen 3000 did not excist. ROM linitations started with Zen3 about a year ago, especially Asrock.Well, there was a massive backlash about b450 not supporting 3000 cpus at launch because of the motherboard ROM limitations and i don’t know how it concluded.
I was talking about b450 not supporting ryzen 3000 cpus at ryzen 3000’s launch and AMD’s prior to release decision was not to support Ryzen 3000. And backlash was about AMD’s promise that Ryzen 3000 will be supported on all 400 series motherboards before Ryzen 3000 announcement and not delivering it.No. Most B450 motherboards were launched 1 year earlier than Ryzen 3000.
