Hello! I am currently looking at future upgrades for my computer. My current setup is as following: CPU: Intel Core i5 750 @ 4.0 Ghz using a Noctua NH-D14
Ram:8 GB of 1600 mhz corsair XMS
Motherboard Asus p7-p55m
PSU: Corsair 650 tx 80 Plus
GPU: MSI Twin Frozr GTX 780
The thing i am wondering about is if it would be worth it to upgrade my current CPU, the cpu is about 3 years old from the lynnfield era but i have overclocked since 2 years back. My GPU runs at about 90-98% usage in for example BF 4 when using ultra and i get a framerate of about 55-70 fps, im wondering if i might have a bottleneck since my CPU is so old and my motherboard is only an PCI-Express 2.0 board.
Should i get a new Ivy-bridge/Haswell CPU or will the performance increase be minimal? I am currently playing on an single 1080p monitor but was thinking of getting a monitor with 1440p IPS will my system be strong enough or will the increased resolution be to much?
Thank you for your help! Sorry if there are any gramatical errors!

Because your running a GTX 780 you have a top quality video card and with gaming the most important part is the video card. BF4 is a CPU demanding game so your CPU has to be of a good quality. Your CPU is three years old now and with the overclock you are making it compatible with the game and the video card. If you tried to run it at stock then you may have a bottleneck.
No single video card can currently max out the Pci-e 2.0 so wanting the Pci-e 3.0 will not be of much benefit.

If you are wanting to do an upgrade because your CPU and motherboard are getting old then that is certainly something that you can do if you wanted to plan it out. An i5-4670k with a Z87 Asus motherboard would be a good choice. You may have to get new ram and...

You may have to get new ram and depending on how much you want to spend for a budget you may want to think it through as to what you want to spend.
