What is your current motherboard? If it supports it, the best CPU for the money for you is a Xeon 1230v2.

+1 for this idea

And if you already have a board and RAM that will support intel, just stay with intel and get an i7 class CPU like the ones suggested above. The performance difference in gaming right now is so close it's not worth changing platforms.
