Hey. I'm thinking of upgrading my i7 3770 (non k) with 16gb 1333 to a Ryzen 5 3600x 16gb 3200. Will there be a decent gain in performance to justify such a big overhaul? On the same road I could also upgrade my GPU which is currently an rx 570 4gb. Tia

it depends on what you want to do with your pc.

you would definitely see some very nice gain in both game and productivity app.

personally i recommend getting the ryzen 3600 instead of 3600x, there are little difference between a oc 4.2 3600 vs oc 4.3 3600x.

as for graphic card, it depends on the game you run, a quick check will be using MSI afterburner and compare CPU and GPU usage, general rule is to replace the one with higher usage. so if GPU usage is high, replace GPU will net you more upgrade and vice versa, if both are about the same, i would suggest upgrade the CPU/MOBO/RAM as it will generally give you smoother game play

You will get almost twice as much CPU performance; as for the GPU, I suggest you wait until the RX5600 is out, this may impact prices. The RX570 is still quite capable and you will get better performance out of it (I'd say, 20% better average framerate - that's what I got out of my RX480 when I upgraded my i5 4670K for a Ryzen 2700X) with the CPU upgrade.

40-140% gained depending on what you will Do. Remember that 3770 benchmarks are before meltdown, so it's ~10% slower than it was when it was benched. (that site shows up to 8 threads, you have 12 on 3600X.)
adding that ram bump that doubles the bandwidth, its A LOT of gain. CPU is worthwhile no mater what you do.
if you game, that GPU will need a refresh too, but can happen later.

Prices on the 3600X have been very close to the 3600 to the point where it makes no sense to get the 3600 unless you are on a very tight budget down to the dollars. Currently on amazon the 3600 is $190 and 3600X $200.

Cheers for the responses guys. Yeah the 3600x is only 9£ more so might as well grab that. Probs gonna get the vengeance rgb Pro 3200 too.

I'm just gaming on it right now. The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Apex, Destiny 2. I can't really run Fallen Order right now because even on medium I'm struggling to get 50fps. I'll check the loads on afterburner but I'm guessing it's down to a combination of both.
