What processor are you currently working with? Looking further, the laptop comes equipped with a Mobile Intel® HM65 Express Chipset which means you can drop in a 2nd Gen Mobile Intel processor provided you don't exceed the TDP limit of your cooler.

A quick search of your cpu socket (PGA988) revealed an i7 2760QM on ebay. It does have a higher tdp due to being a quad core tho. You would get better performance but possible overheating durring long heavy usage.

An i7-2860QM will also work but its slightly slower than the i7-3615QE.

Why are you looking to upgrade the processor?
If you do not already use a ssd, that is the best performance upgrade for a laptop.

B940. Both my laptops are B940 duel core Intel Pentiums, Acer aspire 7750z and Hp compaq 6910p. Can I upgrade both with the same upgrade if they are both same socket?
