So I've been saving up to upgrade my rig which has an i3-7100 and rn, I'm choosing between the 3600 or 10400f. They're priced the same if bundled with a mobo albeit the 10400f is bundled with a B460m-ds3h meanwhile the 3600 is bundled with a b450m mortar max. What are the pros and cons? Thanks!

Solution
They will perform the same/similar.
In general people get the 10400F because it is cheaper, but its honestly your choice since they are same none the less.
Those two cpus are really neck in neck. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen two cpus so closely matched from rivals intel and amd. What's important to note is that besides the additional cores, you're not increasing your single thread performance by much, so you may not see too much of a speed improvement in applications that don't use a lot of cores.
