Hello everyone,
I built my PC 3 years ago and all components were so bad: bought 1050ti for like 220$ because of first mining boom and later after saving money bought i5-7500 for 180$.In that day 8th gen was current one
so prices were much higher, and even though I was all these differences between 7th and 8th gen i just couldnt afford it.I wasnt to stressed about it,I built my first pc ever and was unbelievably happy.I wasnt satisfied after 5-6months after because
60fps 1080p max setting was only thing I wanted but could achieve it because of 1050ti,so I got rid of it for 1660 and that was great decision.2 years later I got older and wiser lol,I got some money and invested in 144hz (again,so good decision),
and thats where frustration came.I quickly realised how bad my CPU is.Cant even pull csgo above 140fps half of time, huge bottleneck for gpu.But now time has come and I have question for you guys:i5 12500 or 5600x?
I can get 12500 for 250$ and 5600x for 300$.But there is one big catch:For intel I would need to pay around 210$ for some basic mb (looks are ase important as features to me) and for amd I would pay 110$ for strix b450-f gaming 2 which is awsome mb.
So its 460$ vs 410$ (again Iam paying 50$ more for I think is tomahawk model).
Also to mention I will use pc just for gaming, and my goal is again 1080p 144hz.
But there is one more catch:RAM.I currently have 16gb 2400mhz,and friend told my that ryzen would run very poorly on that wo I would need to spend 100$ on some 3400mhz memory..
What are your opinions?
Also sorry for long text,I wanted to share this story with you, thank you.

Solution
for even 1440p high refresh rate gaming an i5-12400F is perfectly fine, ~$200.
and 12th gen Intel Core will provide better gaming performance than any of the AMD Ryzen series.

$150-220 for a nice lower-end LGA 1700 motherboard.

and 2400MHz RAM is going to hold back any modern gen CPU, whether AMD or Intel.
you should be searching for at very least 2x 8GB(16GB) 3200MHz CL14 for Intel Core / 3600MHz CL16 for AMD Ryzen.
