Hey there, willing to upgrade a CPU

Current CPU: ryzen 3600
PSU: Corsair Power Supply TX550M
GPU : RTX 2060 OC
MB : rog strix x570-e gaming
Cooler: Arctic ES 34 duo

I'm thinking to upgrade to Ryzen 7 5800x3D, any thoughs, downsides?
P.S. don't wanna change my motherboard, and willing to power up the same AM4 socket (spend too much money on that MB)
Do you guys reckon if swapping to 5800x3D i need bigger power supply? Since x3D seems not so power hungry compared to intels monsters. And what about the cooler? Will it be enough with some headroom for gaming?

PSU and Cooling should be enough. That Cooler can handle itself.

If I enter the specs you show into https://www.bequiet.com/en/psucalculator and just guess you might have 1 SATA drive and 1 nvme, your usage with that CPU would only be 385 max required.

I am contemplating same thing myself. Difference is I want to add a 7800xt on top so my usage is around 590 but I have a 750watt PSU so easy. Our PC are pretty similar - https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/sLbY7X

So power and cooling seems not to be a problem, i mean cooling can you handled with spot of thermothrolling and changing to stronger cooler.

What about that CPU itself, a good boy? For me seems to be pretty nice for the price.

You may also consider as well changing the gpu and psu. I was using the 3600 for a bit with a 6700xt. So you may find if you get a newer gpu that the cpu has legs. Of course in a couple of months you could always drop in a 5700x or a 5800x3d etc. But you may get more gaming performance from a gpu then you could always resell the 2060.

The GPU isn't a problem for my gaming choices, 9/10 games i play is CPU bound, so especially in Rust the CPU is a problem there, but many other games all system is working perfectly, just wanted an upgrade and to play Rust without stuters, but thanks for the answer.

No problem. In that case an upgrade to cpu could definitely be in order. On the budget end consider the 5600 at the bottom, or the 5700x is a good middle of the road option. Not knowing exactly about rust since I’ve never played that game, you could go 5800x3d, or depending how it acts you may consider the 5900x as well.
