Question CPU upgrade

Here is my config:
ASUS Prime A520M-K
AMD Ryzen 5 5500 3.60GHz
16 Go Corsair Vengeance 3600MHz
RX 6600 8GB
Corsair 450W

I upgraded my CPU by buying the Ryzen 7 5800x. At the moment my BIOS version is 2803. When I'll change my CPU will I have to change my BIOS version or will I just have to change the CPU and that's it? It is writed on PCPartPicker that the 5800x requires version 1004.

1004 is the min version. anything higher will support that

Wouldn’t recommend a 5800x on an a520 board due to heat and power draw. Probably the highest cpu I’d suggest on that board would be the 5700x since it’s close to the 5800x, lower power and should run cooler. But since you already have the cpu give it a shot. The manufacturer site should show what version you need.

If heat is an issue you can just download Ryzen master and turn on Eco Mode, essentially turns it into a 5700x

Yes I saw that the 5800x was heating very easily. I bought the be quiet! Pure Rock 2 because I had the AMD Wraith Prism cooler. I hope it will be enough

The other side of the equation with an a320 or a520 board is the vrms of the board. If they aren’t very good your 5800x could throttle back due to the board protecting itself.
