Hi, i'm loking to upgrade my cpu with one that doesn't cost too much, I was thinking about the i3-10100f, problem is that i cannot find my motherboard specs or any type of website that can tell me wich CPU are compatible.
My motherboard is a "Asus cm6731_cm6431_cm6331" currently mounting a i5-3340s.
Does anyone know if i can install the i3-10100f ?
And if the i3-10100f would be compatible, could there be any problems while installing it?

A brief Google tells me that motherboard might be from around 2011??

Probably socket 1155; DDR 3.

How long have you owned it?

If it is from 2011, I'm don't think it will take a i3-10100.
I got the pc from a friend, he used for a few years to play games, so it might be that much old.
I started to change a few components to reach a level where i could play at a basic level games that are not on console yet, like "Sons of the Forest".
By doing some research i think the maximum upgrade I can make to the CPU is a "i5-3570k" wich would be enough to play the games i want, at least i hope so.
So now questions are:
Can i install this "I5-3570k"
Is there any other CPU i could install instead?

I don't know what the best processor is that would work on your motherboard.

But.....

I can tell you that there isn't a lot of difference between the 3340s and the 3570k.

Both have 4 cores and 4 threads. The 3570k has about a 17% advantage on a well known benchmark.

I'm not sure how much that would help you on whatever you want to do with the PC. You might be better off saving for a rebuild with a newer motherboard, new RAM, and new CPU.

I've seen on ebay the 3570k at around 30 euro, and if i get 2x8gb ddr3 ram for 40 euro i should reach the level i was looking for.
To make a pc that could be a little bit better than this one i think I would have to spend between 550 an 650/700 euro.
I just wanted something that i could use for the next 6 to 8 months to a decent level, after that i would start building something with a higher budget(maybe 1000+ euro).
Do you think is it a good idea to buy the CPU on ebay?

Buying anything from ebay has its risk. You can evaluate that as well as I can.

You say 30 for CPU and 40 for RAM. Personally, I wouldn't do it. I'd put that 70 toward a total upgrade.

But I don't know what you do with a PC and I don't know how desperate you are for small improvements for a 6 or 8 month period.

I would like to be able to play "Hogwarts Legacy" and "Sons of the Forest", that's it xD, but right now i cannot afford to build a new pc from 0.
So i think I will spend those 70 euro, in a few months i might try to sell this pc to get back some money and then build a better pc.
Thanks for the answers and advices.
