Hi everybody ! I'm glad to join this VERY active community!

I have a question about cpu performance, 'cos I have a dell optiplex 7010 with an i5-3570 processor, quite old afaik, and I want to buy a new machine.

The thing is that here, https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-3570+@+3.40GHz&id=827, It's showing that this processor has a benchmark of 4918, while the TOP of the list, a xeon d-2712t, "only" has a benchmark of 7990 (less than double the one for my processor).

I was expecting INCREDIBLE MUCH HIGHER benchmarks for new processors, to run emulators, etc. I know that memory and motherboard also counts, but I presume that the most important upgrade is the cpu itself...

I would like to run complex emulators at full speed with a decent gpu, without 'jumps' or lags...

Thank you in advance !

There are 3 form factors for the Dell Optplex 7010. Which form factor do you have?

Hello,

It's the "PC Dell OptiPlex 7010 "Desktop" - SERVICE TAG o etiqueta de servicio 2DKDWX1, Regulatory Model D05D, Regulatory Type D05D002".

Thanks!

On a common benchmark that I am looking at right now:

i5-3570; multi thread 4918 as you specify; single thread 2046

7 year old i5-6600k; multi thread about 6300; single thread about 2300

1 year old i5-13600k; multi thread about 38000; single thread about 4200

The Xeon you refer to has a single thread score of 1956; the 7990 score you mention is multi-thread.
