CPU usage always very high

I have been dealing with this issue for months now and I am wondering if it can be fixed without upgrading my gear.

I have a i5 7400, 1060 3gb, 16 gb ddr4 2400mz ram, and whenever i play a game my cpu always hits 100% usage ( high 80s in menus ). When watching benchmarks with the same specs on the same games, I see a huge difference in comparison of what I am dealing with.

I know that my BIOS is on an outdated version but dont really know what else could cause this.

I would go into task manager and sort the CPU usage column and see if I could see what was causing the CPU usage to be so high.

Its the game that I am playing that is always at around 85-90. I always make sure that everything is closed before gaming

made a scan and nothing came up

Have you tried updating the NVidia driver?
If not, I'd try that. I'm running out of ideas.

Yeah I've pretty much tried every possible things apart from updating my bios because from what I've read it doesn't change a lot.

I really haven't seen that updating the BIOS fixes this problem very often if at all.

I find, almost always, it's software related.

I find many times it's a virus or malware etc.

I'm pretty sure a clean install would straighten it out....but I'm not sure if you want to go that far.
