CPU Usage and Temp

ok guys first time on here and i dont know much so any help would be appreciated!

I did a custom build about a year ago identical to a friend of mines pc, but his pc is getting a better performance than mine running all the same programs. my main concern is my temps are higher than his and it looks like one of my fans isnt running (or is not being detected). Also, my cores are running at almost half the speed of his and it seems like half of my cores are not being used as much as the other half.

I have no problems when running lots of programs but just recently started streaming using obs and whenever i use my webcam it freezes everything up while my friend does not have this problem. yes i have done research into obs and tried using tons of different settings with no luck.

Start with making sure your MB bios is the latest. Did you use the identical thermal paste? You may have put too much or too little which may explain the temps (it should be about the size of a grain of rice- just enough when spread out to cover the surface of the CPU).

Is the fan spinning? I would check with the cover off, and make sure it is powered.

you might be experiencing thermal throttling, try what the above user posted. also look in the bios and see if the settings are the are the same.

I paid someone to do the build for me after i bought all the parts so im assuming correct amount of paste was used. Currently my front fan is spinning but the ones by mother board and processor are not. so im assuming this is the issue. i will try to get those going

Just double checked and everything seems to be plugged in correctly, but like i said i dont know much. I have 5 fans and only 2 are spinning. front fan and mb fan are working while back fan, bottom(RM650), and processor are not.

that is your issue, you need to get your fans spinning. in your case the cpu is decreasing the frequency to stay cool.

ok so for someone who knows nothing is it better to take it back to the company that did the build for me and hope they fix it for free or try and get a refund from the site i got the parts from or is there a better option?

it isnt the most edification thing to do i bet you could do it yourself. first did you make sure all fans are pluged in?

yes from what i can tell everything seems to be plugged in correctly

no they are not the same

ok then i would try taking it back and they should fix it for free
