Okay the subject explains it all. It's on my GF's pc and the specs are:
asus board (dont know model)
p2 450
256 MB micron RAM
and on windows 2000
When i try to listen to a song via winamp, the song stutters and i have noticed the computer to lag a lot. When i ctrl+alt+del and check what prog is using up so much CPU, it tels me that "system" is using up 99 of the CPU. What is wrong here..someone help please!

When you go into task manager with ctrl-alt-del, click on the processes tab, then click the CPU column heading. This will tell you what process is using 100% cpu.

Me thinks this is an issue with the sound card, which I suspect is a cheap one. Try deleteing the sound card and re-installing it.

The fact that SYSTEM is hogging all the CPU cycles is a clue to a hardware/driver issue.
