CPU Usage? Help

So my friend and ai bought similar computer parts, he has a 4790k i have a 6700k. I have an msi z170 m7 he has an asus z97 or something like that. But with my computer using 55 processes its CPU usage was at 14% while he was at 88 processes and was only ar 2%. What gives? Could a low amount of thermal paste of done that? I did the pea method. Idk what it could be..

I have the Zotac GTX 980 ti AMP Extreme Edition while he has the MSI GTX 980 ti Superclocked Edition (My clock speeds are about 200 faster than his)

Process count doesn't really equate directly to CPU usage. You can have 1 process that spans 4 cores and pushes the CPU to max, the same way you can get 100 processes active that barely uses any CPU power.

Did you try re-applying the thermal paste

What are your full system specs?

Thermal paste affects only the temperatures of your CPU, not the actual logical performance. You can cool that chip with liquid nitrogen and still get the same results.
