Hello,
I have a problem with mass effect andromeda.
My cpu is almost always at 100 % usage which lead to heavy fps drops and stuttering.
I am running it on ultra
My rig is:
I5 6500
GTX 1070(With minor oc)
8 gb ram

What should I do?
I dont want to lower the graphics and I would like another solution for it. Because i can run it good.
Thanks!

Solution
For frostbite engine you can press `and try these commands
thread.processorcount (try 3 here to leave one core empty)
thread.maxprocessorcount (same try 3 here)
thread.minfreeprocessorcount (try 1 to leave 1 empty)

Experiment with the commands and if something works you can make a .txt file in the game folder called user.cfg and add the commands that worked, one per line.
You don't mention what resolution you are running at.
It sounds almost as if you are running at low resolution which places more work on the CPU than the GPU. (For example, running at 720p instead of 1080p makes the CPU work harder).
Try increasing the resolution, if possible.
Also, an I5 is a the minimum spec CPU. The recommended for Andromeda is an i7, so your CPU could be working harder since it has less threads to work with.
Does this only happen with Andromeda?

Hey and thanks for replaying.
I am running on ultra settings, at 1080p.
I tried high settings and it was kinda the same.
GPU usage is at 50 - 80 % and CPU usage is around 80 to 100.
I still get fps drop even if the CPU usage is not 100.
I have got it happening also on battlefield 4,but Not much as this game.
What is the problem?

That is a heavy CPU-bound game and it's not that surprising it is using up a lot of CPU time.

CPU working at 100% during initial game launch and at level loading is more or less normal, however, CPU work going as high as 100% during game play (maybe a large proportion of game time) can cause a lot of heat.

What CPU cooler do you have and what's the air flow like inside the case? Have you monitored your CPUs temps at idle and during gaming? Also GPU temps?

High temps can results in abnormal behavior such as stuttering and might also throttling down.

Also I hear new versions of Origin client is using a lot of CPU too.

Also I think if you run the game in borderless windowed mode it will lower your CPU usage. This option I think is available in the game menu.

tried it, CPU usage is at 70 % and gpu is around 50 % on high but I still get slow fps of the tempest and most of the areas with buildings.
Do you have any idea what is the reason?
On low It doesn't happen, but I don't want to play on low setting when I have a good gaming computer.
P.S the same thing happened on dragon age inquisition, maybe the same deal?

Well as said before an i5 is not the best for CPU-intensive games and it can bottleneck a GTX 1070 at 1080p.

That graphic card should be able to manage above 100 fps at 1080p in that game even with high/ultra settings if all conditions are OK.

Also define slow fps. How many FPS you expect and how many you actually get at 1080p at ultra or high settings?

RAM does not usually affect game play that much but maybe 8GB is not enough for that game. Does it slow down at launch or when a level is loading or you or enemy is spawning?

I'm thinking maybe more RAM would help. Can you borrow larger RAM sticks from a friend or family to check how it runs with 16GB?

Also what is your OS? If it's Windows 10 and it's not updated to latest builds update it.

And updating graphics card driver won't hurt (if not the latest version).

Hey i’m having the same problem but with destiny 2. The thing is when i go on ultra setting and vsync off i feel like my cpu fan make weird noise ( i use the basic cpu fan ) but when i turn off vsync to 60 fps no problem. Im using the same build as you gtx 1070 eith i5 6500 and 8gb. Looking forward to get a i5 8400 and a z370 mobo . Already ordered my 16gb rams do you think its better to change my cpu?
