CPU Usage problem

Hello people.

Soo, for some reason, while I play any game the CPU load is ALWAYS at 100%

I have this hardware

Intel Pentium D 925 3.0gh (Dual Core)
2GB 667mhz (1+1)
ASUS GT640 1gb GDDR5
MSi 0a48

And whatever game I play, the CPU load is ALWAYS at 100%

I had a laptop with a Core 2 Duo 2.2gh and nVidia GeForce Go 7600, and the same games ran at lower frames (Cause of GPU) but the CPU load was at 70% - 80%

What's wrong?

P.S. The game is Burnout Paradise and the Desktop is a HP dx2200 MT upgraded.

Thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with that specific game but that's an older cpu. Chances are it will be maxed out and probably bottlenecking your gt640. Games can only play as fast as the slowest hardware. In your laptop, the gpu was the weaker link and was holding back your processor because it was maxed out. Now that you have a faster video card, the game is performing better but now your processor is the slower of the two for that game's needs. It's running as fast as your processor now and if you need/want the game to perform any better you'll need to look into a cpu upgrade (which probably means motherboard and ram as well).

You'd probably get better performance from the g3258 because it's newer and the newer architecture allows it to process more per clock than the older cpu. Also if you pair the g3258 with a decent overclocking motherboard like a z97 and an aftermarket cpu cooler you can overclock it pretty good too. You might be able to use a z87 motherboard but chances are it will require a bios update for the g3258. Easier just to get a z97.
