Hi.

Specs:

CPU: I7-4790K
CPU Cooler: NZXT x62
Motherboard: Z97-P
PSU: 750W EVGA GQ
GPU: Asus 1070 Strix

When I use “adaptive mode” the voltage is higher than set in the BIOS.
I set the voltage to 1.200V in the BIOS, but when I reach Windows it’s at 1.268V, and for some reason, it’s always at 1.268V when the voltage is under 1.268V.
I am not running any stress test with “adaptive mode”, but when I open programs such as Chrome or Steam it goes to 1.268V, sometimes even spikes up to 1.318V.
I’m not sure if setting an offset would help, I don’t really know how it works.
Could it have something to do with the cache voltage?

- I have tried LLC, at medium [Level 2]

Solution
This sounds like expected behaviour for adaptive mode, I believe that's what the "adaptive" part refers to. If you want to set a fixed voltage that won't be exceeded, set a manual voltage (might need to play with LLC settings as well).
