hello i would like to know if which one is the better option.. the i5-6600k or the i7-6400t(ES) in terms of performance... (i understand the risks of buying engineering samples and i am considering buying one)

Solution

I answered

if you have a Z board, get the 6600k

if you have a compatible board with the older bios that had unlimited BCLK tweaking the i7 6400 becomes the...

that is basically a gimped i7 6700

... if you have a Z motherboard I would take the 6600k for overclocking

too bad intel locked bclk overclocking in newer bios, would take the i7 if you have a proper board with older bios

Stronger at what? Things that benefit from faster single core performance (most games) should do better with an overclocked 6600k. However a locked 6700 (assuming this is close to the engineering sample) will do better in tasks that benefit from lots of threads.

i have seen other people buy this chip and overclock using the bclk method as Grandmaster has said

thank you...

You will be lucky to get a 5% OC using that method, too small to make any real world difference.

with the older bios he could have gotten 4 ghz+

but yeah after intel made the mobo manufacturers "update" the bios you can no longer do so
