CPU with this Build

Just got a i5-4690 at $169 one day sale. Had to buy it I knew it was a Killer deal, Any one have any thoughts on this CPU?

Will this be good for Games @ 90% and 10% Gopro video Editing and Converting 1080P?

This is my build so far.. all of the parts had Rebates and Or In store one day Super deals like the I5 4690 at $169

For newer intel chips, yes. Overclocking is great with other chips.

But the 4690 is perfectly fine for gaming and light editing for a few years.

Overrated I wouldn't say. The i5-4690 for 170 dollars is a great deal though, great value that is.

Also was looking at a Intel Xeon E3-1231V3 for $247. Would that be a better bet for Longer Term performance say 5+ years?

I got 30days to Return the I5-4690 at the retail store.

You will not need a Z motherboard. H97 is a much better fit, because the CPU can't be overclocked, other than the BCLK. Everything else looks great.

Z97 isn't for just overclocking but also other features. Like SLI compatibility and perhaps having a decent RAM clock.

I was told that the Z97 are built with Better parts since they can Be O.C. Also like the Ideal of being able to have options in the future.

Majority of people don't buy a second GPU though later, but sure buy whatever you'd like lol, I just go by stats here

But why you still debating if you already GOT the i5-4690 on-sale for just 169 dollars?

The Xeon E3-1231 V3 is not better for gaming in comparison to the i5-4690 right now.

If all you do is gaming then the Xeon E3 is a waste of money and all you need is the i5-4690, doesn't matter if we're looking 2-3 years ahead.

I got the i5-4690 its was only a One day sale at 169. and with a 30 day return I wanted to check out with you guys and gals for Opinions.

Seems at this point the Xeon would be waste. Got to thinking I did get the I5 and 8gb DDR3 for the Price of the Xeon...

So I will stick with the I-5 for now! Thanks for all the Opinions
