I want to know if its worth buying the i5 6600k with the asrock h110m-dgs (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/7cTrxr/asrock-motherboard-h110mdgs) or should i just get the i5 6500?

Thanks

Why isn't the i5 6600 a choice as well?

It's better than the 6500 and won't waste the overclocking potential the 6600K has.

IMO, get the 6600K it has a great single core performance, if you wish to overclock later on you'd just have to switch mobos.

What do you now own?
What are you trying to do?
What is your budget?

Worth is something only YOU can determine.
I5-6500 runs at 3.2 with a 3,6 turbo.
I5-6600K runs at 3.5 stock with a 3.8 turbo. More like 4.5 if you have a overclockable z motherboard.

How important is cpu power to you?
Is the 10% price difference, and the 10% performance difference worth it to you?

Right now i own an i3 6100 along with the asrock h110m-dgs
I am trying to upgrade my computer so that it is vr compatible
my budget for the cpu is around £230

Im not an expert when it comes to cpu's and their speed, but I know that if I do get the i5 6600k I wont be able to overclock it with my current mother board, (i dont think i can anyways), so i dont know if it is worth it to buy the i5 6600k or just get the i5 6500 as im not sure if im going to upgrade my motherboard in the future or not,

plz help
Thanks

Depending on the game or application, your I3-6100 may well be the better performer compared to a I5-6500.
The I3-6100 has a clock speed of 3.7 so the only time where a i5 would be a big boost is when you have an app that can truly utilize all 4 threads.

If your budget permits, there is a case to use a i7-6700K which has a stock clock of 4.0 and a turbo of 4.2.
