Does the Video Board speeds up rendering in 3d Apps(Lightwave3D)for example, or Should I rely on the CPU strength? I´m about to buy CardExpert´s Geforced2 Pro/400 and is it a good choice for my Pentium II(160Ram) AGP 2X?
Thanks for any help. . .

The video card only helps "render" the image to your monitor while you're working with the scene. So if you get a huge scene a good video card will help you edit it without going crazy waiting for screen refreshes. But the main CPU(s) do all the final rendering of the final images/animations.
