Hey guys.. actively putting my new PC together and ran into this. I have seen people give conflicting answers by googling, wondering if anyone has a definitive answer. Should I plug both fans into CPU_FAN via the provided Noctua splitter or one in CPU_FAN and one in CPU_OPT?

Thanks

When you connect with splitter both fans Will be controlled as one, from one header, same speed - this is what Usually People want from a dual fan CPU cooler.
You can connect to separate headers if you for some reason want different speed on each fan, there is no functional difference between headers except How the motherboard sees and names them. I use CPU opt header with 3-way splitter to control my case fans, for example.

So I guess the question is will CPU_OPT and CPU_FAN behave the same (same speed) by default? I ask because I am currently not using the splitter and will need to remove my motherboard from the case to make the change due to my massive cooler. Trying to determine if it is worth the trouble because I do want them to behave the same.

edit: PC is like halfway put together so I can't power it up and test it out at this point

Just use the splitter connecting both fans to the CPU Fan header.
