cpuz and pc wizard saying qx9650 is at 2ghz with 6x multiplier

...yet my computer properties says its 3Ghz, and I did change the multiplier on the bios for my evga 780i to 9x so that speed is 3ghz. pcwizard claims the real frequency is 2ghz and marketing frequency is 3ghz. 6x is low multiplier and 9x is high. what the hell is all this about, i have no idea?

It would be interesting to know if your 780i steps downs when the cpu is oc'd. Mine doesnt on an x48t-dq8 gigabyte board.

Is C1E enabled in your BIOS? My board is a P965 with e6600 OCed to 3.4ghz (from 2.4ghz) and it still steps down to 2.2ghz when idle
