I need to re post this because i accidentally clicked the best solution, but in the bios i set my i7 4790k multiplyer to x47 so 4.7ghz. also i manually set the voltage to 1.2v and in cpuz i went in it and it says a steady 4698.90Mhz. after maybe 25 seconds it would go to 4700.80Mhz. and then about a minute later it would hit 4808.00Mhz. and then after it went just a bit down to 4697.90Mhz. when all of this is happening, the multiplyer in cpu does not change at all. it will always be x47 even when 4808.00Mhz it will still be x47. im not sure why it does thism anyone having a similar issue?

Solution
With a "K" processor it would be a pity not to use good overclockable MB. OC is such a good way to prolong usefulness of a system. I've been doing it since forever, even when it meant soldering on MBs for voltage mods at the time of Atari and 386 processors.

i think it may be the vrm. my psu is fine with the seasonic 80+ gold 750w. should i upgrade to asus z97 or maybe an x99 chipset from asus? i was thinking about the 5930k.

my next idea is to buy a high end intel cpu 6 core like a 5930k with x99 asus overclockable motherboard
