CPUz vs Vcore

I noticed whenever I raise the Vcore above 1.5v, CPUz reports incorrect vcore .... it would display the DEFAULT vcore instead of what I set vcore to ...

I am currently OCing E6400 with Asus P5B Dlx .. with all suggestion settings in this thread

except VCORE and FSB ...

As of this moment, FSB = 400, VCORE (in BIOS) = 1.525v ..... Memory Freq=DDR2-800 ... CPU temp (from SpeedFan) = 58-64*C (loaded with dual Prime) .. and VCORE reported from SpeedFan is 1.48v

Any suggestion ?

Use the bios to look up the vcore, sometimes softwares don't give accurate readings. Mine with cpu-z gives me about .05 lower vcore readings that the bios. By the way you're cpu is on fire! That's not good.

Well the cpu temps are over 60c at full load so a higher vcore would be needed to stabilize the overclock.

Why so many volts to get to 3.2ghz? I only have to up to 1.32 to get to 3.2 ghz.

follow the wusys core 2 duo overclock guide.

Put the vcore up to a certain level, overlclock to the selected speed then lower the vcore step by step running stress tests each time you lower the vcore. Then when you find the computer is unstable return to the last stable vcore, and theres the vcore you need to get to that selected speed.

NB make sure you have good cooling.

below 0.888v vcore? the defult vcore is around 1.35v but why under 1v vcore, surely it wuldn't boot, right? :?

at 1.6ghz i can run 0.8 vcore and be stable in prime 95. And the cpu temp is only 2 C higher than ambient and 4-5 C higher than ambient under prime 95 full load. Nice and cool just the way I like it.

That's because it works on your system doesn't mean it would work the same on his. I don't know maybe his mobo or ram is not stable to pair up with the E6600 or something. Maybe he just went ahead a go for a high vcore instead of finding the lowest stable vcore for that overclock.

Hey Sbinh, how's your water cooling set up. You might need and extra single 120mm radiator to help the cooling. You're cpu is really not good at full load. Overclocked like that you should have your cpu to max at 45c-50c, that way you can achieve the same overclock at low vcore and so lower the temps as well.

Yup .. expect to receive the black ice pro radiator from dangergen next week. Hope it would help to cool down the cpu.

Question:
Is it good idea to remove 1 set of RAM while OCing ? Then plug them back in when system is stable?
If so, which one should I remove: OCZ2G8002GK or Corsair Twin2X 1024A-6400 ?
