Hi. My system audio has been suffering from pops, clicks and crackles during streaming media playback and whilst playing games. I have two sound cards and an independent USB headset. All suffer the same regardless of enhancements, enabled status or installation order Having done a lot of research and tried just about everything including fresh re-installing Windows 7 and 10 twice and tested audio at each stage in the driver install process, updated drivers {although there were none needed for windows 10 after install according to the Intel driver update utility) New GTX980TI graphics card, new sound card, disabled components one at a time in device manager, disabled HPET/Speedstep, updated BIOS, changed sample rates, disabled enhancements, changed power to performance etc etc.
There is a lot of information on the web from people experiencing similar problems and a huge amount of things to try in order to resolve them. Latency Mon does show sometimes that there is latency in the hard page fault bar but not in the drivers section.
My question is quite specific to the timing of the pops and clicks.
If I'm streaming on You Tube, the sound often clicks and pops at the start of speech or a change in scene. If there was say a compilation video, the sound will often pop, click or crackle as the clip changes to the next one. The sound will also pop when I mouse click the play or stop button sometimes. It is the same in Chrome and Internet Explorer.
Music from a folder plays fine unless I skip forward in the track, where a slight pop will be heard.
Most annoying is when I play racing games. The problem occurs mostly when revving an engine whilst stationary. This produces a very annoying crackle from all speakers which disappears once the vehicle is moving. Also, when a tyre touches a curb or grass on the apex of a corner. The change of road surface makes the sound pop or crackle. The same can be said for the instant I change gear.
Any Ideas? I'm tearing my hair out...
I also have a new Plantronics 788 USB headset. Same problem, so it's definitely not my speakers.
Asus Maximus 1V Extreme Z with newest BIOS on optimised defaults within ROG, Asus Xonar DGX sound card,Gigabyte GTX 980TI, Intel I7 2700k, Realtek HD on board audio, Sandisc SSD with Windows 10, Separate HDD for files and some games,
