Crash Prob

Hi all,

Wonder if you knowledgable guys can help me with a problem.

My PC has been crashing on 3D games, i get a black screen ( the monitor goes on standby) and the sound continues for a bit then goes funny, only a reset sorts it out

This has mainly been happening with online 3D game e.g Star wars Galaxies and Black hawk down, ive run Aquamark 3 several times and cant seem to get it to crash.

My Specs are:

P4 3.2 (800mhz)
Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 pro 2 Mobo
1ghz RAM
Geforce FX 5600 ultra 256mb GFX card
Audigy 1
Windows XP Sev pack 1

cable modem Motorola SB4200

Make sure your audigy drivers are up to date. There were some early EAX issues that crashed a heck of alot of cards out there. Of course makes sure chipset and bios drivers are current too.

You might want to check and see if Fastwrites does anything for this, it was similar to the issues I and a few others have had, but it's just a guess. Troubleshooting from afar isn't really great. Be sure to check the basics, like ensure you have good ventilation, etc.

Also you may want to try (just to see what happens);

Running 3Dmk03 and see if it crashes in a similar fashion.

Lower your core and memory frequencies, see what that does.

Unfortunately it could be a myriad of things so you may have to try alot of stuff including system tweaks.
