crashed sata hdd : image retained ? in second drive

can i correct drive images ? without losing OS ( win10 pro ) authorization

2nd hdd ( at that time ) was 250gb , and shows ' e ' reserved is 241 mb used , 108 mb free ;

mounted a 250gb hdd ( from my previous dell gx755 ) which - after a day of updates - shows 44 .9 gb used , 187gb free ;

problem is , i should like to clone a new 1 tb sata hdd - with what i still have - but :

' c ' shows 465gb capacity ... with 64 .6 gb used , and 400gb free space ?

before win 10 somehow came up - microsoft demanded ! a new key 🙁 my 8 .1 pro only ? allows updating , from 7 pro ): o

i 'm concerned therefore that any cloning ? could drag me back into their ... catch 22 / buy a new key scenario ;

Your W8.1 key is good enough to do clean install W10 on that same computer for free providing you do it before July. The registration is tied up to MB not HDD.
When you clone a smaller disk to a larger one, leftover space shows as unformatted partition on which you can make partition and format it giving it a letter thru running diskmgmt.msc in Run command.

checked both my hdds : one is ! a 500gb seagate ... so sorry for my mistake
