Hi everyone,
I recently picked up the Shogun 2 collection from Steam (which includes the main campaign plus Rise of the Samurai and around 7 other DLCs).
The campaign runs beautifully, and so do battles - when they don't crash. Around 50% of the time, the game will crash either on the loading screen just before entering a battle, or during the battle itself. In both cases, the game music pauses for a second, then resumes, and then the game CTDs with a generic 'Shogun 2 has stopped working' error message.
I've asked on several sites associated with the game, but haven't been able to find a fix.
I'm running Windows 7, 32-bit. (The computer is set up for 64 bit, and has 12 GB of RAM, but only 3.2 GB are usable.)
I have updated my Nvidia drivers, and edited the preferences file to prompt me whether to use Direct X 9 or Direct X 11 when the game starts up (since I have heard DX11 can cause trouble with the game.)
I also made some changes to my virtual memory, via Performance Options. I set it to 8GB on the advice of a friend.
I also vacuumed the interior of the computer, because y'know, they always say that.
Anyway, any ideas on this issue would be really appreciated. I don't know a ton about computers. But it does seem strange to me that the game runs perfectly sometimes but crashes other times.
