I am new to this forum so I apologize if this is posted in the wrong
place.
My problem is that I have a 12 month old comp with I feel quite a good
spec, I replaced my old Radeon 7000 graphics card with a Radeon 9550
for better gaming and also as I do alot of desighning with photoshop
and such, since I replaced the card the computer will either crash or
reboot while I am playing games, any games but I play mostly sims2 and
star trek, I have the latest driver's and also checked that the AGP is
switched on in the bios all is correct. The other thing that I have
found is that when I run a disc the minuite the disc starts to run
there is a 90% chance that the computer locks up- is this connected. If
anyone knows what the problem could be could they please tell me as I am
starting to feel like throwing the thing out of the nearest window.Below
is a list of my system speck. It has been suggested to update and flash
the bios but i'm not confident enough to do that. The other thing I have
found is that in my hardware manager it is listed that I am useing my
secondary ide channel with microsoft driver and not my sis ide that I
updated should I change this, Please forgive my ignorance i'm still
learning. Thank you.

Hi maiden fan,

I had the same problems you are having and this is what fixed it for me:

1. Move your sound card to the farthest slot, away from the graphics card.

2. Enter the BIOS and make sure that your onboard sound is set to
"disabled", not "auto".

I believe the above helped the most. In addition, I did the following:

3. Blow out any dust with compressed air, clean all fans heat sinks.

4. Remove all cards and memory chips, clean the contacts with a pencil
eraser, clean contacts with alcohol to remove eraser dust.

5. Blow out all slots, and replace cards and memory.

I can not guarantee this will help you, but I hope it does.
