I was cleaning my gpu because of the high temperatures that that I had (about 80c) when gaming, but after replacing the thermal paste and cleaning out dust, when I tried to launch games my gpu would go up to 100c and crash. I've tried cleaning out the thermal paste and using less but that didn't seem to help. The gpu that i'm using is a gtx760.

Solution
Double check your work. The most obvious mistake would be thermal paste related(too much, not enough). The next most obvious is you are not reattaching the heatsink correctly, so that it's not making the right amount of contact. If there are thermal pads on other chips, those must also be in their proper place, or replaced if missing or damaged.
